Cycle times

How good is Ncplot on cycle times, to the actual times? Does any body have some thing to say about it?

Cycle Times

Postby DFleeman » Fri Apr 11, 2008 10:05 pm

Hey There,
I can speak as far as mills are concerned, that the cycle times are true to the NCPlot.
But the thing you have to consider is,what is the actual cycle time of your machine. The tool change cycle time may take longer than another machine, or the fact that some people send their machines to Home Position in all Axis.
One thing I have done is actually positioning my machines from the longest position from tool change position and check the cycle time, and then add that to the NCPlot time......Just for safer quoting on work times....

I'm thinking that acceleration time plays a part too. In the real world your machine doesn't go from zero to 80 IPM instantaneously. Perhaps it might help to have an acceleration rate setting?

Adding a home position to the machine setup would be nice too.
